America is in trouble, there is no doubt about that. Financially it’s a mess. Globally, the world hates us. There is no trust in the government by the people. Domestically things are a mess as families deal with lost jobs or cut back hours at work. The blame is almost unanimously directed to President George W. Bush for getting us into this debacle.
The cry for change is everywhere. It’s on both sides. Republican and Democrat. John McCain and Sarah Palin quote that they stand for change. Barack Obama and Joe Biden obviously flaunt their closeness to the Change message. Change.
We want hope. We want “The American Dream” back. We want a future for our children. We want to be the most powerful nation in the world again. We want our educational system to be the best in the world. We want our kids to be able to compete in future global market, both with knowledge and skills. How do we get all of that back?
If the blame is with our current President and all of the choices that he has made, would an answer simply be in electing a Democrat? Would all of the hope and change that everyone seems to desire be found in Barack Obama? Does he truly have all of the answers that can solve the difficulties that people say have lasted 8 years? Can A Democrat Save The United States?

As an American I would say that we probably aren’t going to make it.
People are in a coma and think only about themselves.
This country was built by another “kind” of people.
Unless there’s a radical change in the American Conscious we
are doomed.
As far as Obama he will just prolong the inevitable.People only
think of their issues and concerns,thats not how it works.

John, I actually agree with you on this. We have lost all sight from what our Forefathers intended and we do need to wake up. Spiritually and Politically. “Jesus is an American”.

I dont think either of the top teir candidates are going to change anything, they are in the positions because they promote, in large, the status quo.
Ron Paul was the only way we were gonna change this country and fix it for the good.

The problem with America today goes further than the debt, the global hatred, the lost jobs, etc. The main problem is that too many people are expecting the president (whomever that may be) to save us. The only way the United States is going to be saved from self destruction is if many of us work to solve our own problems. Families must live within their means. Business must make wise decisions. Workers must get off the internet and produce. Volunteers and donations are needed for many good causes. And, yes, the government needs to be fixed.

A good President can be symbolic of the image that America seeks to restore and once again project to the world. A good President can inspire Americans to contribute to a cause greater than themselves. A good President can think through complicated global issues and make reasoned, informed decisions that are best for this country. A good President will admit when he makes mistakes in his presidential decisions, thus inspiring confidence and trust in Americans. These are key ingredients to returning America to the global image and domestic dream it once had. There are many more ingredients that have nothing to do with a President, but as the singular representative of what America stands for, a good President can project a powerful image both at home and abroad. FDR was such a president, and he inspired one of the greatest generations this country ever knew, ushering in the age of American hegemony. JFK was another such inspirational, if flawed, leader. Ronald Reagan also.
Turning to this election, as the choices are between a particular Democrat and a particular Republican, I think the Democratic candidate embodies all the qualities I alluded to above, so, yes, in this election, I think a Democrat can help save the United States. Accomplishing that mission will take all of us though.

I don’t think either of them will make a huge difference. I think if it is anyone who needs to change its the Americian people. We sit around and hate how the economy is, how the world hates us and how there is no future for our children. How about getting off our lazy American butts and doing something about it. We should be forcing the government to make the changes we want. Vote for people who will work for what we want. Expect more from our leaders. At this current moment they are in power for the money not for us. Benjamin Franklin said from time to time the government should be over thrown.

We are on a long slippery slope. Obama is a socialist, or more correctly a Marxist. He is not what we need. I am NOT saying that McCain was the answer either.
We, as Americans need to find an honest man………..where I can’t say.
Congress will continue their crooked deals, and think that they now have a permit to do so, as they have a huge majority.(Dems) This is very dangerous for the country.
