I think we might agree on Robert Tilton and Benny Hinn and their ilk…i fell for the word of faith movement for about a year in my tenure as a christian, before i realized it was BS.

That is something that I do agree with you on, Matt. The word of faith is the biggest perversion to what I hold as the actual presentation in the Bible. I know you don’t believe in any of it, but at least you can see that aspect of the Word of Faith.

absolutely, even though i dont believe the bible is any more than a book designed by people that wanted power. I do see that it never promotes prosperity doctrines unless you take it far out of context…

Why in the world would you think that God changed his mind, and his nature from Old Testament to New? God promised Israel blessing, prosperity, etc..health….if they would follow him. Why would he want any less for those who became his children…in Christ?
If you are in Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.
God doesn’t just care about where we end up after this life. He cares about us right here, right now. So, if we need healing, or financial help…we can look for help/answers anywhere but not from God? This thought process makes no sense to me–but tons of people have it. I just think that people have no idea how much He loves us…and even though I DO believe that all of these things are the will of God for us, I know that my understanding of His love is like a dust particle in the universe….
