I received a comment on my post about the Word of Faith Doctrine. The comment was in regards to the “Jesus Died Spiritually” heresy and how the proponents of the Word of Faith Doctrine use that to justify their actions and teachings. This was the quote from the commenter:
“Many of the preachers in your head shots here are ones that I have, in the past, listened to and watched. NOT ONCE in all the time that I have listened to them did I EVER hear this load of trash.”
They were right in that it was a load of trash. I pointed the commenter in the right direction in finding out for themselves whether or not these people believe this doctrine. It just seems that people get heavily offended if you mention their favorite celebrity preachers in a negative light. It is as if these preachers are infallible. This clearly isn’t the case.
Let’s go to the Word for a little study:
TRUST IN GOD IS THE ONLY HOPE
Jeremiah 17:5-10
5. Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.
The people of Judah at this time in the life of the prophet, Jeremiah, proposed an alliance with the Egyptians as a protection from the Chaldeans. The folly of trusting them and not Jehovah and the wisdom of trusting Jehovah and not them are contrasted in Verses 5 through 8; and (vs.9) the nature of the heart - incurably diseased with deceit - which proposed this alliance is exposed. In a sense, Paul’s statement in Gal. 1:8-9 is the same as here.
6. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good comes; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
“The heath” is insensible and fruitless. Such is the Christ-less man insensible of good, fruitless in life, and a stranger to real fellowship. The sense of this verse is that inasmuch as the people of Israel treated the Promised Land as they did, they would now “inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not (previously) inhabited”
7. Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Verse 5 says that the man who does not trust in the LORD is “cursed,” while this verse says that the man who trusts in the Lord is “blessed.” There you have it! This is where the die is cast.
8. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
To trust in the Lord gives one the “fruit of the Spirit.” To trust man is to be “cursed by the Lord.” The modern Church should note this in her acceptance of humanistic psychology and all the other false doctrines that it so readily takes in, instead of the Word of God.
9. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
God knows the hopeless corruption of the natural heart, and so He said to Nicodemus that no one, however cultured and moral, can either see or enter into the Kingdom of God. There must be a new birth.
10. I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
The phrase “I the LORD search the heart,” refers to the fact that only God knows the heart. The phrase, “I try the reins,” refers to the Lord allowing certain particulars to take place, according to the disposition of the individual involved, in order to bring out what is actually there. The Lord through Omniscience already knows all things, in other words, what is in the heart of man, even before man knows it. But in order that man not be able to say that he is unjustly judged, the Lord allows events to transpire, uncaused or caused by Him, which always reveal exactly what is in the heart, whether good or bad. This is done in order that the Judgment Day will be fair and impartial, and that the record of such actions can be shown in black and white to the individual, who, at that time, will be without argument. Therefore, his judgment will be “according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”
So we see that if we put our faith in man, we will be cursed. The Word of God should be center. Christ and His finished work on Calvary should be our focus, and not what our T.V. personality preacher has a “revelation” about. These false preachers are plaguing the church world. Check out Isaiah 56:10-12 with me, will you?
10. His watchman are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.
The idea, as presented here by the Holy Spirit, is that Israel lost her way because of these “blind watchman,” i.e., Preachers! Israel forfeited all the great Promises because of these “dumb dogs” that “cannot bark,” which means that they do not preach the Truth or warn of False Doctrine.
11. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds who cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
In Jesus’ day, these “watchman” were called “blind guides” of the Gospel (Matthew 15:14; Luke 6:39). They did not have the spiritual discernment which would enable them to lead people aright. Instead of acting as faithful watchdogs who give warning of the approach of danger by their barking, they remain apathetic and utter no warning at all. It is as if they pass their lives in sleep. Not only do they fail in the way of neglect of duty, but they are actively culpable. Being worldly and not spiritually minded, they are “greedy” after gain, i.e., “greedy dogs.”
12. Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
The Prophets of Isaiah’s time, as well as the time of Christ, were not only negligent of their duty, and covetous, but they were given excess regarding entertainment. Such crucified their Savior when He came, and such today reject their Savior Who has come!
This is what has become of society today. We chase after personalities and put them on pedestals. The modern church likes to accept everyone and their message, just because they have a “successful ministry”. They refuse to admit the scripture as it is against False Doctrine and deceit and heresy and apostasy. As if that tactic isn’t used by the enemy.
We need to go back to the Cross! That is where our hope is.

I dont think God can be the subject of an intellectual discussion. If we just use our intellect we will not understand God fully. Faith and trust and surrender is necessary to understand God fully.
