Top 5 False Doctrines To Avoid
- THE WORD OF FAITH GOSPEL-
I thought that I would take some time to put a list together of the top 5 false doctrines that the modern church world should avoid. I wanted to do this in a series and get to them, hopefully, daily. This list is by no means a doctrine of itself. I just compiled this information in order to present some of the more popular heresies that exist today and have a massive following. These movements are not what was intended by Christ or the early church. If you have problems with my list, please feel free to leave me a comment and we can discuss it civilly.
NUMBER 1 - THE WORD OF FAITH GOSPEL
— What Is This All About ? —
The Word of Faith Doctrine, The Prosperity Gospel, The Name it And Claim It Creed… The list goes on and on with this False Doctrine. This doctrine is probably the greatest weapon that Satan has used in these last several decades to destroy Faith in Christ and His Finished Work. The direction of this doctrine sends the seeker in a wrong direction than what God has intended for believers.
As Judaism was the great hindrance to the Message of Grace during the time of Paul, the so-called “faith Message” is the great hindrance presently. In fact, I believe it is even worse than Judaism.
First of all, the faith which is proposed is really no faith at all, at least that which God will recognize. If our faith isn’t properly in Christ Crucified, we are not truly in “Faith”. ( I Cor. 1:17-18, 21,23; 2:2; Col. 2:14-15; Eph 2:13-18). The “Word of Faith” teaching totally denigrates the Cross. It is referred to as “past miseries,” or even as “the greatest defeat in human history.” It also teaches that the Blood of Jesus Christ didn’t atone. While it will say out of one side of its mouth that the Blood does atone, it will then turn around and say, but not within itself. And with that little hook, people are made to believe that they are teaching and preaching the Blood, which they aren’t.
They teach that Jesus became a sinner while on the Cross, died as a sinner, which means that He died spiritually, thereby went to Hell, and we speak of the burning side of Hell, and there suffered for three days and nights the agony of the damned. At the end of the three days and nights, they continue to teach, God then said, “It is enough,” meaning that He had suffered enough. He was then “born again,” even as any sinner is Born-Again, and then resurrected. So when they talk about a person’s faith in Christ in order to be saved, they’re speaking of trusting Christ and what He did in the pit of Hell as a lost sinner. Incidentally, all of this is pure fiction, with not a shred of it being in the Bible. But sadly, untold millions believe it!
The teaching of the “Word of Faith Message” of which has been written here, is none other than blasphemy. It cannot be construed as anything else. To believe such a doctrine, which is the worst perversion of the Atonement that Satan has ever concocted, is none other than believing a lie. That’s why Paul said:
“Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; prove your own selves, know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except you be reprobates?” ( II Cor. 13:5)
These are strong terms as given by the Holy Spirit through the Apostle. He is saying that any doctrine, any teaching, that eliminates the Cross, is termed as a reprobate doctrine, which produces “reprobates.” Reprobates in the Greek is “adokimos,” and means, “rejected, worthless, cast away.” So in effect Paul is saying that any other type of faith is a “worthless faith.”
The truth is, anyone who takes unto themselves the false message of the “Word of Faith” doctrine has taken a path that will ultimately lead to spiritual ruin.

I have no idea where you are getting all this but some of what I read was pure poppycock.
Your own words:
***They teach that Jesus became a sinner while on the Cross, died as a sinner, which means that He died spiritually, thereby went to Hell, and we speak of the burning side of Hell, and there suffered for three days and nights the agony of the damned. At the end of the three days and nights, they continue to teach, God then said, “It is enough,” meaning that He had suffered enough. He was then “born again,” even as any sinner is Born-Again, and then resurrected.***
Many of the preachers in your head shots here are ones that I have, in the past, listened to and watched. NOT ONCE in all the time that I have listened to them did I EVER hear this load of trash. NOT ONE TIME did I ever hear them say that Jesus died a sinner. Yes, He did head to hell. It was His choice to do this. His choice on the cross. He died with the sin UPON Him so that we would not have to do this. HELLO. Does that make HIM a sinner? He was SINLESS. He did NOT suffer there. He suffered ON THE CROSS. God did NOT say it was enough, Jesus did ON THE CROSS. Where are you GETTING this trash???? Don’t you ever read your Bible?
Talk about false doctrine. You speak of wanting people to know the truth yet you throw out all this. Has it occurred to you that ***IF*** by any stretch you are wrong that you are touching God’s anointed and that IF you do that, there are consequences? And before you get on a higher horse than you already are, you cannot say one way or the other who is God’s anointed and who is not. That is not your call.
So, just to be clear here, you are putting all this out because you, and you alone, seem to know what’s going on. These preachers who have been in ministry for a multitude of years are ALL WRONG and you know what’s the right thing. They are all teaching false doctrine and you have the answers. WOW. That makes you pretty close to God, right? And you know all this how??? Again, where are you getting your information? I know this. I have no idea where you are getting. Definitely not from what I read.
I cry for the very ones who are so deceived. And you are helping to deceive them too. Sigh.

I’m careful about the televangelists i watch. The only one I have a problem with on your list is Paula White. I’ve heard her speak and I never picked up on any of what you mentioned.
Generally I just shy away from in “health and wealth” gospel, not that I’m all for the “fire and brimstone” gospel. both are exaggerated extremes of what Jesus is about.

Jesus did take on the sins of the world so that we do not have to pay for what we have done. He, Himself called what he was doing the propitiation or payment for the sins of the world. When Peter tried to say no Jesus shouldn’t die, Jesus replied , “Satan get thee behind me.” He knew what would happen on the cross. He knew what needed to be done. Faith does not teach what you have talked about. Please re-read your bible ask God to help you understand what He has caused to be written. There is a great mis-understanding of what is written.

You ask me where I am getting this trash. I am not preaching this trash. Your comment conveyed that I taught that garbage. People like Kenneth Hagin did and his “son” kenneth Copeland does, and virtually every “word of faith” preacher does. I teach that the worlds sin debt was paid on the Cross of Calvary. I have many threads on this blog that state that.
You can read about Hagin and copeland and the others by doing simple google searches. Just because you have never seen a show on them saying these things, doesn’t mean they don’t believe and teach this. Here is a reference for you:
http://www.discernment.org/wordfaith/kenhagin.htm
you can also do youtube searches to get these people on video and audio talking about the Jesus Died Spiritually Heresy.
I’m afraid you have taken the “Touch Not God’s Anointed” quotation out of context, as do most people who want to hang on to their favorite celebrity preacher. Do a lexicon word search in the Hebrew and you will find that it talks about Physical harm unto death, and not speaking out about them.
Read my post on how We as Christians are to expose the errors of others:
http://imablogger.net/2008/08/28/are-christians-to-judge-and-expose-error-of-others/
Do you not read in your Bible where Jesus warns that there will be apostasy and deceit in the Church. There will be wolves in sheeps clothing. Who do you think those people will be? If it will be so “evident” to everyone, then why the analogy of a wolf in sheeps clothing? It is all about the message. If the message is off, we need to flee from it. Nobody is judging EVERYTHING with the Word of God anymore. Instead of finding truth in what I say, you berate me for speaking out.
Ezekial 33:6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
We can’t just stand idly by and let people be duped. We have to warn. If you saw a blind man heading toward a cliff, wouldn’t you call out to them? Same thing here. If you know that someone is preaching a wrong message, instead of just sitting idly by, if you have loved ones that are swayed by mere men, warn them.
The Bible should be the center focus of EVERYTHING. If it can’t be backed up by the word, then your focus is off.

If you are saying that Christ did not atone on the Cross, then you are wrong. Christ’s Blood made it all possible. I don’t have to re-read my Bible to get that lesson. From Adam and Eve to the end, shows that plan. God killed an innocent lamb to provide the covering for Adam and Eve, where they tried to use their “Works” to cover themselves. I think you see where I am coming from. Read the post and you will see that I did Not say that Christ’s Death did not atone. The word of Faith people believe that.

Tony, I believe I have just eaten a six-course gourmet meal of spiritual food. The article was superb and your responses to the comments were excellent. If people would just stop being lazy and read the Bible (the old AND the new testaments), they would see what a slippery slope the Word of Faith doctrine has become.
Instead of calling it “Word of Faith”, they should call it “Greed of Faith”. I’m sure you know most of the celebrity “preachers” listed above live ridiculously lavish lifestyles for teaching this junk. It seems all they want to do is build their mega-church empires at the expense of gullible people. When Jesus returns, I believe a lot of folks will be in for a horrific shock. Thanks to WATCHMEN like you, hopefully I won’t be one of them.

Thanks, Sonya.
Some people put more stock into celebrity than into the Word of God. We put these men and women on pedastals and act as if they cannot fail or be wrong. Just because they have had a ministry for years and they are on T.V., we try to say that they are close to God because of their success. Jesus wasn’t accepted so easily. They killed Him for his message.
Anyhow, thanks for the comment, Sonya.
God Bless

There is nothing false about word of faith. I confessed and got Jesus!
Romans 10. It’ s sad to see people bound by religion and tradition.
Faith is simply agreeing with Gods Word. Why is it if you are a down
and out, negative christian no one has a problem with you, but you start
agreeing with God, people have a heart attack? I did’t say i am righteous,
God did! I didn’t say I am more than a conqueror, God did! We are not
exalting ourselves, we are just saying who we are in Christ. It’s all about
Christ anyway, not me. If I am still a poor ol sinner, than I will not go to
Heaven, Sinners don’t go heaven, last I heard. Lets embrace Gods Word
and start agreeing with Him, not the devil, the world or our cirumcstances.

I think you might be missing the point Karen, about the Word of Faith doctrines. Nothing you have said, is along the same lines of what I am talking about. We as Christians are more than conquerors, and we are seen as righteous only through Christ, and not in and of ourselves. It is ALL about Christ, like you said, but what I am speaking about on the Word of Faith issue is the total opposite. If they believed what you claim, then I wouldn’t see a problem, but those words don’t come out of their mouths. They claim it is all about them and what they want. They say that their desires are answered by God because they quote certain scriptures that back Him into a corner and thus make him fulfill his word. Stick to what you are claiming and you will be alright, Karen. I have no problem with what you say.
Now if you respond trying to take up for some of these preachers, then you need to check where your focus actually is. your words on this post show that your focus is on Christ, but if you feel the need to hold these people higher than they should be, then recheck your focus. The road and gate is narrow, and few find it.

No one would try to counterfiet something that is false such as a $30.00 bill. They would have a hard time finding anyone to accept it.
All things that are counterfiet have some truth or no one would accept them possibly as being real.
I would hate to be the person who accepted the counterfiet “ticket” to heaven and find out at the gate that it is false.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
I highly recommend reading all of 2 Timothy 2 for this matter. The Word of Truth will not harm.
