Todd Bentley wife separateThe Ledger.com is reporting that evangelist Todd Bentley, who led a Pentecostal revival in Lakeland from a modest beginning to near-historic proportions, has filed for separation from his wife, a former spokesperson said Monday, and will not return to the ongoing revival. You can go HERE for the story, but I just want to say one thing. I read this story at another website called The Sheeple Blog and in your flesh, because we are all human, the Devil wants you to find joy in the demise of people like this. People who twist the Word of God to suit their needs. But I read his statements on the matter. Even though he doesn’t agree with Todd Bentley, he is right in saying that we need to pray for renewal and restoration for this man and his family. We need to pray that God opens his eyes and shows him the truth. It is one thing to expose these people, but if we aren’t praying for them too, what is the point. We can warn the people and pray for the ones spreading the lies. Family is very important and I can only pray that God’s will is done in this situation.

I can’t believe people actually write language like that! The article started out well written, then decayed into quite the facade of colorfully arranged verbs. I’d suggest you throw away your cliche evangelically-saturated catch phrases and your pontificating tone, and adopt a tone a little more neutral.

Do I think you’ll listen to me? No. But it was worth a shot…

Bobby, I am not a news agency. I am not neutral. I am totally One sided. I want to expose false doctrine as what it is. Anything against what the actual Word of God is. I have written about Todd Bentley many times as being false, which his teachings and beliefs are. This particular post is me, still not agreeing with the doctrine, but hurt that his family is getting broken apart. If you want neutral, go to CNN (although they are pretty biased themselves).

  3. Amen. Witness to the lost, and warn the believers of false doctrine and false prophets. In my flesh, my first thought was “ah-ha! I KNEW he was messed up”. I won’t even lie. But that is a WRONG attitude to have, and I sincerely pray that God works this one out - for all involved.

I’m with you Lori Kate. Sometimes we all have to have “attitude checks” filtered by God. It took me a few drafts not to go with my gut and say “I told you so, Mr. Bentley”.

  5. Divorce is one of the most soul destroying things to go through. In my most painful experience even when the full story was known the churched do have a habit of seeing you as a failure. That fact of the mater is that we are all failures. Some failures are not less important than others. That’s why I like Jesus so much - he is perfect for me because I can not be perfect.

What is worse than divorce but far more palatable to us churched people is sham lives, lies, and Christianized fronts. We would much rather people have horrible dead lives and conform than do something we feel we must condemn because we can not comprehend it.

Inherent in the second half of your post are a lot of embedded cultural assumptions. All we can do when we see a marriage fall apart if pray for healing. It takes two people to fully commit and if even one can not fully do that neither is any less a child of God. What did Jesus himself say about the subject - “Moses allowed you to divorce because you are weak.”

Were we not weak would we still need a Saviour?
