benny hinn false doctrine This comes from my christian sister Deborah over at “Discerning The World” It is a very interesting report on Benny Hinn over in South Africa.

Recently Benny Hinn was at the Coca-Cola Dome on the 11 & 12 July 2008 in Johannesburg, South Africa - called ‘Miracle Crusade’ and told the 18,000 audience to sow $1000 (approx R7500) within a 2 minute window and they would become millionaires within a 24 hour period.

Pastor Todd Koontz who accompanied Benny Hinn on his ’Con Crusade’ gave a message last Saturday morning that 500 people in the audience will sow and receive a considerable blessing in return.  He said the service will make millionaires and multi-millionaires within a 24 hour period.  All you have to do is offer $1000 because on that $1000 lies a considerable blessing.  Koontz went on and conned the audience to make them believe that this blessing window opportunity will only be available for 2 minutes.
Pastor Tommie Ferreira from the AGS-church in Floridapark, Roodepoort who attened said that ‘people stormed forward; rich people, poor people, people from every background’.  He said what he witnessed made his hairs stand up on end.   But wait! You are possibly wondering, did these people come prepared with R7500 cash in their wallets for just in case?  Nooooo, Benny Hinn was kind enough to set up credit card machines so there was no problem when it came to giving this offering.  Koontz also went on to say that God is going to bless these people’s credit cards and with the money could rule over South Africa.   Pastor Ferreira said that no less than 1000 people gave this offering. So it is estimated that just within that one service, Benny Hinn raked in over R7 million rand for there were people who possibly gave more than $1000.   Also Benny himself took ANTOHER offering shortly after Koontz had finished with the first one. Pastor Tommie Ferreira wanted to know how many of these people actually became millionaires and so would I.  So if anyone knows of anyone who went to this godless circus and gave $1000 in the hope that God would bless them with millions more, please come forward and tell us if you did or did not become a millionaire over night - it’s been 1 week since Benny Hinn was at the Coca-Cola Dome, surely there must be someone. Having said that, if anyone thinks they can PAY God for blessings, PAY God so that He will make you rich, PAY God to jump at your commands, then I really do feel very very sorry for you.   If you think God is only accessible at these services and gives a 2 minute window of opportunity to ‘give’ otherwise you will lose out, then I feel very sorry for you.   Do you think you have to PAY Jesus to have a relationship with Him?  NO!!!

People please, STOP following men, open you bibles and study the Word of God so that you will not be taken in by false teachers who preach a ANOTHER gospel that Jesus Christ Himself WARNED you about!!!

The only millionaire made in a 24 hour period at this ‘miracle’ crusade was Benny Hinn and the only miracle that happened is that people like Hinn etc get away this with kind of fraud over and over and over again.  I feel sorry for Benny Hinn and Todd Koontz on Judgement day.  I pray they repent of the things they have done before it’s too late for them.

  1. Wow! This is shocking. He is getting so greedy, that he may just ruin his chances of swincling Americans anymore if they hear about this. Nah! There are too many suckers. Great post and great blog!

  2. Tony

Yea, he will still be able to dupe us americans. Even his followers would see nothing wrong with what he did in south africa. And not a single person became a millionaire.
    Thanks for your comment!

  3. I’ve been to South Africa. The country is wracked by poverty and crime. You drive through their cities and you see huge areas covered with cardboard and scrap metal shacks teeming with people hoping to find some scrap of a job in the city.

The people cannot afford that kind of sacrifice, and to play on their hopes of a better life is despicable. The last thing that economy needs is to have 7 million rand removed from it. My only hope is that after all of the wealthy British left South Africa over ten years ago; they took all of their money with them and crippled the economy. Since then, South Africa has created laws that create stiff penalties for trying to take to much money out of the country. I hope Mr. Hinn’s organization got hit with a mess of fines as they left.

There are some amazing Christians doing incredible work for the gospel there. While you are rightly condemning the vultures, remember to pray for those who do serve our Lord in that country.

Hey, I knew a guy named Josh carden once..you aren’t the same one are you?

  5. Well lets see: 1000 each giving $1000? Benny Hinn told the truth! Someone got a million dollars that day.

  6. I am the same one. I saw a link to your blog on facebook and stopped by. It’s good to see you doing well.

  7. Thank you Tony for posting my article.

I just wanna clear up a small comment made by Josh.

    >> The country is wracked by poverty and crime. You drive through their cities and you see huge areas covered with cardboard and scrap metal shacks teeming with people hoping to find some scrap of a job in the city.

Correct. Also allow for that fact that some of these people are foreigners from other african countries, and can’t get work because they don’t have papers. Never the less it is a pitiful sight to behold.

Correct, tons of white people left in fear of their lives and the safety of their childrens lives. Crime after 1994 has gotten out of control. Can’t blame the Brittish for that, that’s Mugabe’s ‘catch phrase’.

Incorrect, all whites in south africa are not Brittish lol, European decendant yet, but not necessarily Brittish. Afrikaaners are decendant from Holland and France (like me, I am a French Huguenot decendant).

Incorrect: The whites leaving did not cripple the country, the GDP has increased since 1994. However crime threatens the country.

Incorrect: “Since then, South Africa has created laws that create stiff penalties for trying to take to much money out of the country.”

It was like that pre 1994 when the previous white government made it very difficult for people to leave and applied regulations stating that only a certain amount could be taken out of the country per person per year. The amount was so rediculously small that it made it almost impossible for people to leave the country.

    >> I hope Mr. Hinn’s organization got hit with a mess of fines as they left.

I doubt it. He has an office in South Africa, the money can stay there and gather interest.

Having said all of that, when the Rapport Newspaper contacted Benny’s office to find out what he was going to do with the money. As an after thought they told the Rapport they were going to build an orphanage. So why didn’t he just say that to the people at the crusade then instead of lying? Because…it’s a lie? lol

    God Bless ya all.

  8. Well, I wasn’t trying to write a treatise on the subject, Deborah. I wrote a shorthand response to a blog. Thank you though for bringing further clarity to the subject though. I am always eager to hear more about South Africa and what’s going on there today.

I am aware of the various descents of the people of South Africa. My in-laws worked primarily with the Indian population in Durban, and I was blessed enough to meet many different people there of various backgrounds. That said, I did use British intentionally. It was a shorthand way of referring to the foreigners that pulled out. It wasn’t my intent to create an in-depth portrayal of South Africa’s history. The way the history was related to me, was that when Britain pulled out, many of the wealthy white people (British or otherwise) pulled out and took their money with them. I am willing to concede that I could be wrong or more likely overly simplistic (I only have what I was told to go on). Since that point, your country has struggled, though to be fair, there are many more factors than just economical.

Your country is in a rough situation. They are trying to further develop their nation while simultaneously develop the skills in their people to make it function. That would be hard in a country that wasn’t plagued with high crime rates and poverty. That’s not even mentioning the history and attitudes of the people who live there that need to be brought together. The issue to my admittedly outside viewpoint is that all of the problems are connected.

My prayers are with your country and your people. South Africa is a beautiful nation. Table Mountain is amazing. Your countryside is breathtaking. And even with all the crime, I met so many amazing people who love your country. I hope that the upcoming World Cup that you are hosting will remind the world of how wonderful your nation really is.

As for taking money out of the country, that was related to me by my in-laws as they were leaving the country. They were worried that because they had sold their home that their amount of money would hit whatever that limit is. I honestly do not know more than that, though my guess is that the law they faced may only deal with foreigners and not citizens. No clue though. My in-laws found a way around it and didn’t have to face it in the end.

I’m sad that Mr. Hinn won’t face fines though. Maybe his orphanage can bring some good from the mess.

    Hi,

Justin Peters was mentioned on Deborah’s web site… He is coming to South Africa in November, I believe and will be holding his seminar there at Christ Seminary and a few churches. He speaks out on the health and wealth gospel and has quite a bit of expertise when it comes to Benny Hinn.

Here is his web site: http://www.justinpeters.org and be sure to watch “demo” for an overview of his seminar - including Hinn…

Mr. Peters spoke at my church and comes recommended by my pastor, Dr. John MacArthur.

  10. I agree that $1,000.00 a person is a little on the greedy side. It’s terrible how some people exploit the neediness of others!

  11. Glen

Is it wrong to be excited about the possibility of this man being one day humiliated in front of the entire world?

  12. Tony

Glen, No, I am with you…I am thinking it will happen soon.
