Most modern churches are leaving out the Cross. They are leaving out the blood. They claim that the cross was the biggest defeat in human history. They don’t want to offend anyone with it’s imagery. They feel that there is no need to glorify in blood or death.
I totally disagree! It is the blood that has made it possible for us to have access to God. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:22:
“Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.”
I wanted to share some of my favorite Hymns that modern preachers leave out of their services.
AT THE CROSS
Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!
Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine—
And bathed in its own blood—
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.
Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!
Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.
But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
’Tis all that I can do.
DOWN AT THE CROSS
Down at the cross where my Savior died,
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His Name!
Glory to His Name, glory to His Name:
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His Name!
I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within;
There at the cross where He took me in;
Glory to His Name!
Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,
I am so glad I have entered in;
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean;
Glory to His Name!
Come to this fountain so rich and sweet,
Cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet;
Plunge in today, and be made complete;
Glory to His Name!
ARE YOU WASHED
- Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?- Refrain:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
- Refrain:
- Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? - When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb? - Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb!
Power In the Blood
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you over evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.
Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

How can you leave the cross out of a church? The cross is a symbol of love, salvation and hope. Without the cross we would all be lost. I don’t understand what is happening in this country anymore.

My recent post The Dogs that Surround Me at my blog was on Psalm 22 and the Cross of Christ.
The bloody death and resurrection of Christ is both the key to all biblical doctrine and perhaps more importantly the key to personal acceptance before God. It has to be the key to our faith. If you wash the blood away from the cross you can’t wash the sin from your life.
peace in CHRIST,

“Nothing but the blood!”
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

I am in full agreement with your posting and your Hymns - Praise God for the cross and the blood! We’d all be on our way to hell right now with no hope, if it were not for the cross and the blood.
I mentioned in another comment that I have been visiting a site that I only discovered after a short while, that this guy is into NAR. God has used this site to expand my knowledge of what is really out there and what to be aware of and is also part of the journey of how I ended up visiting here.
Yesterday, this same guy posted a question to the community. Should they remove the word ‘cross’ in the name of the site as he had been challenged by one of the local ‘Deliverance Ministries’ whom he really respects and they have said that the cross ought to be removed as “The cross symbol was actually as sgn of a curse” plus many more other fantastic claims. One of three testimonies from this ‘deliverance ministry’ is that the ‘Holy Spirit’ told one pastor to remove the crosses that were inside and outside the church, and that after they did this they had major breakthroughs in the congregation???!!
I sat stupefied when I read that he has actually considered this challenge and that he has asked the community to comment. So far one has. He is much further away from the Lord than I ever really understood and I have now found out that he is also so excited by
David van Koovering and what he is teaching. I have tried to speak to him, and write to him, but he is closed and utterly convinced he is on the right path. All I can do now is continue to pray for him.
Do people not check anything or anyone out, ever? You can see how easy it is for so many to be led astray - most check nothing!!!.
Take away the cross and you you bring back the wrath of God. Take away the blood of Jesus and we are eternally damned. I thank God with all my heart that He is in control and made those decisions in the beginning.
Bless you for your posting
